Shrewsbury, UK (PRWEB UK) 4 February 2013
Following a successful year in 2012, during which time the company were recognised by their industry peers by winning The Guardian and Virgin Media Business’s 2012 Innovation Nation Awards (http://www.guardian.co.uk/innovation-nation-awards/innovation-nation-awards-winners#enterp) and were also shortlisted as finalists for a further 3 industry awards, today’s announcement is a welcome start to what is already promising to be a very busy year for the company.
With stiff competition coming from IT companies across 24 countries throughout Europe, the shortlisting was given to Shoothill for FloodAlerts (http://www.shoothill.com/floodalerts), the unique online flood warning service. Shoothill were selected ahead of more than 100 other entries in the same category and the final winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in London in March.
FloodAlerts is a unique application that takes real-time flood data, from over 1800 Environment Agency (http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/floods/142151.aspx) monitoring stations throughout England and Wales, and displays this data on an interactive map, updating and warning its users when they, their premises or the routes they need to travel could be at risk of flooding.
Launched originally as the world’s first Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/FloodAlerts) flood warning app, the service was expanded to the Shoothill main website and is also available as an app in the Windows 8 Store (http://apps.microsoft.com/webpdp/en-GB/app/floodalerts/34357a3c-0da4-4b63-84a7-2360b10fd185).
The FloodAlerts service is available free of charge to individuals, and can also be provided as a customised risk management solution to businesses that require infrastructure safety monitoring (tim(dot)welch(at)shoothill(dot)com)
Shoothill Managing Director, Rod Plummer, said: “We are delighted to have received further recognition for FloodAlerts in the shape of this latest award nomination.
