According to Top Echelon Network President Mark Demaree, it’s not surprising that companies are utilizing internal recruiters more than they were five years ago.

Given current economic conditions, the results of this poll make sense.

With all that the United States economy has endured in recent years, it’s no surprise that companies are doing everything they can to reduce costs. That being said, they still have to hire the best candidates possible to gain an edge over their competition.

To obtain that talent, companies often use recruiters. However, some companies are opting to hire internal recruiters, as opposed to paying a fee to an outside executive search firm. Exactly how much of a trend is this?

According to a recent poll conducted by Top Echelon Network, an elite network of highly specialized search firms, nearly 60% of Network recruiters indicated that companies are using internal recruiters more than they did five years ago.

As part of that poll, Top Echelon Network asked the following question: “Are companies using internal recruiters more, less, or the same now than they did five years ago?”

Nearly 60% of poll participants (58.1%) indicated that companies are using internal recruiters more than they did five years ago.

In addition, 37.2% of recruiters stated that companies are using them the same amount, and only 4.7% were of the opinion that companies are using internal recruiters less than they were five years ago.

According to Top Echelon Network President Mark Demaree, it’s not surprising that companies have been utilizing internal recruiters more during the past few years.

“Given current economic conditions, the results of this poll make sense,” said Demaree. “However, when a company chooses to rely solely on internal recruiters to conduct a search, that doesn’t guarantee the very best candidates will be identified, recruited, and hired. Third-party executive search firms often possess the experience, the expertise, and the connections necessary to blanket the marketplace and unearth the very ‘best of the best.’”

Top Echelon Network was founded in 1988 in Canton, Ohio. Nearly 400 recruiting firms from all major industries are Preferred Member recruiters in Top Echelon Network.
