Real Life Real Music boasts what is arguably the most noteworthy lineup since its beginning in March 2007. Nationally recognized artists like Pat Green and Collin Raye, Grammy nominees like Willy and Cody Braun of Reckless Kelly, Americana rising stars The Trishas, Walt Wilkins & The Mysiqueros, and more promise an incredible six months of music. Ask host Kyle Hutton which show he’s most looking forward to and he’ll tell you “the season opener.” That might come as a surprise to some given the roster, but dig a little deeper and you quickly see why.
In addition to the live shows and syndicated radio program, RLRM works with young artists in a variety of capacities, and the February 5 show with Kathryn Hallberg and openers Abbey Hirvela, Kenna Daniel, and Mason Reinke will be somewhat of a culminating event. Hallberg met Hutton at Dosey Doe in The Woodlands after performing at an open mic when she was just 14 years old. Hutton recognized her raw talent and she quickly plugged into Real Life Real Music’s student songwriter programs. Hutton produced her first two EP recordings, and booked events including opening slots for radio tapings and the RLRM Music Festival. Kathryn, now 18, is riding high after the release of her Hutton-produced EP “Nocturnal” mixed by Niko Bolas (Neil Young, Melissa Ethridge). Local, national, and international reviews sing the praises of this young, bright star. The February 5 show will kick off with three young songwriters, much like Hallberg at the onset of her time with RLRM. Hirvela, Daniel, and Reinke will perform an “in the round” presentation of material way beyond their years.
And that’s just the start. Two weeks later Hutton goes behind the life and songs of Texas music icon Pat Green. “We’ve worked for five years to get Pat on the show, so we won’t waste a minute!” quips Hutton. Sol Driven Train, The Rankin Twins, The Trishas, Collin Raye, Walt Wilkins & The Mysiqueros, Willy and Cody Braun of Reckless Kelly, Cory Morrow, The Dirty River Boys, and Brandon Ryder complete the Season 12 schedule.
Real Life Real Music offers music fans far and wide an up-close and personal look into the life and songs of this generation's most talented singer/songwriters. RLRM makes its home at Dosey Doe in The Woodlands, Texas select Tuesday nights throughout the year. Every show is recorded and rebroadcast throughout the Real Life syndicated network of radio stations.
