Casa Bella Solid Wood Furniture, a family-run business focused on high quality furniture imported from India and Indonesia, has recently released its top tips for cleaning wooden furniture.

A Casa Bella spokesperson said: "Caring for top of the line wooden furniture, such as our Sheesham wood furniture, is the best way to keep your furniture looking like the day you bought it.

“Wax and other cleaners can build up on furniture over time, so it's important to maintain your furniture to let the beauty of the wood shine through."

The two main cleaning methods recommended by Casa Bella are:

Wooden Furniture Cleaning Tip 1
Give your wood furniture a deep clean once a year. Although we recommend a weekly dusting, it's also important to deep clean your furniture to remove any polish or wax build-up.

Before starting, make sure you're working in a well-ventilated area and have protective floor coverings under your furniture. If you can easily move your work area outside, that's always the best choice.

Mix together one-quarter turpentine, one-quarter vinegar and two-quarters linseed oil in a glass jar.

Stir them together until they're well mixed. Dip a small bit of fine steel wool into the cleaning mixture and using small circular strokes, test it out on part of your furniture that's not visible to make sure you like the results.

If your furniture has not been deep cleaned regularly, you may notice a distinct lightening effect. Now is the time to decide if you want to go further with the process - you may decide that you like the darker coloration.

If you choose to go ahead with the deep clean, proceed with circular strokes on small areas at a time. Follow up with a clean rag. Work your way over the entire piece of furniture one small section at a time.

Once you're done with the cleaning solution, dispose of it and any cleaning rags safely. Turpentine is flammable and care should be taken when storing or disposing of the solution.

Wooden Furniture Cleaning Tip 2
Invest in high quality furniture oil and give your furniture a good rub down every two to four weeks. Avoid commercial waxes or spray-on dusting products that will only build up and leave a film on your freshly cleaned furniture.

By following these simple tips, it’s possible to keep wooden furniture looking beautiful for years to come. To see the full range of wood furniture on offer at Casa Bella, visit http://www.casabellafurniture.co.uk.
