Domains90210 is proud to announce its recent sale of the Connect.tv domain at the price of $25,000, which was recognized by DNJournal.com (http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm) as the highest reported price fetched for a ccTLD this year to date.
"While it's just the beginning of February, it's still a great honor," Dauman said. “Like many other ardent domainers, I have been reading the DNJournal religiously, since 2005. In addition to the great articles and interviews, I always look forward to the weekly sales columns. These columns are the best barometer of the marketplace that I know of."
The .TV domain name extension has seen significant growth since its metamorphous in March 19, 2010. Prior to this date Verisign priced premium domain names at higher rates. In addition, the annual renewal fees were equal to the purchase price. Some of the names came with five-figure purchase prices and a five-figure annual renewal.
The idea of paying $35,000 for a domain name each year was disagreeable to customers, so Verisign revamped the .TV pricing system on 19 March 2010. Premium names registered after that date were priced more conservatively ($100 - $5,000) and most importantly were renewed at the standard renewal rate (around $30 per year)
Dauman saw this as a good business opportunity to invest in the space. “If you had to find an acronym which is perhaps as widely recognized as .com worldwide what would it be?” he said. “Well, ‘TV’ goes way back and is recognized across almost every language. It is associated with television and video. The internet has never been more associated with television and video as it is now. I predict even more so in the future in ways which we can hardly imagine now.”
“While it may just be the first inning of 2013, it’s always nice to hit one out of the park,” he said. "I believe that the buyer just scored a home run too," said Dauman.
