As secretary of VIM Clinic, Attorney Mike Crary is in charge of the finances and fundraising for VIM Clinic. “Volunteers in Medicine is a terrific organization,” he said, “Every dollar donated to Volunteers in Medicine buys a multiple of dollars of free medical care for the needy in our community. So it’s a very worthy cause, a very humanitarian cause.”

One of the gala co-chairs expressed the importance of VIM Clinic in Stuart and the surrounding areas. “The Martin County community recognizes the value of the care provided by the clinic,” he said, “and realizes how important this care is to the stability of our county.” The “America the Beautiful” themed gala occurred on January 26th at the Mariner Sands country Club and drew more than 250 guests. At the gala, guests experienced a silent auction and free “pot luck drawings for eight prizes with a total value of $35,000. Originally, the gala co-chairs set the fundraising goal at $500,000.

The gala co-chairs donated $100,000. This amount was matched by the Frances Langford Foundation and several VIM Clinic Volunteers. The gala’s honorary chair, a local philanthropist, expressed his thankfulness for VIM Clinic and its influence on the Martin County community. “I’m only a giver,” he said, “I just sign a piece of paper. These are the people that do all the work, and it’s so wonderful to see exactly what they do.” In addition to generous donations, the silent auction earned more than $40,000 and featured gift baskets, original art, vintage cigars from Rush Limbaugh, and a stained glass window.
