Planning for exciting luxury family holidays

It is time to plan the family's annual summer escape. Amanda Marks of Tribes Travel offers ideas for an unusual adventure or luxury family holiday.

Family holidays are a key part of the shared experiences and memories which are so important to us as we grow up (or older!). They don't have to be luxury affairs to be precious, but some experiences simply can't be organised on a budget.

If you are considering pushing the boat out and having a really special escape for the family this summer (or indeed during other holidays throughout the year), here are a few inspiring ideas.

A NEPAL FAMILY ADVENTURE: 11 days in Nepal. Visit Kathmandu, go whitewater rafting, elephant-back safari in Chitwan NP, hiking near Pokhara, plus sightseeing, shopping.

FAMILY GARDEN ROUTE & SAFARI: 12 day self-drive holiday in South Africa. Visit Cape Town, go whale watching, visit the penguins, meet (or even ride!) an ostrich, enjoy the coast of the Garden Route, try a treetop canopy tour, take a wildlife safari in Kariega Game Reserve.

ZANZIBAR BEACH HOLIDAY : 8 days on the spice island of Zanzibar. Enjoy the beautiful beaches, perhaps explore Stone Town, take a marine excursion to see dolphins, and of course take a spice tour.

MARRAKECH, MOUNTAINS & BEACH : 9 days in Morocco. Explore the amazing walled city of Marrakech, hike in the Atlas Mountains, then escape to the beaches and fishing port of Essaouira.

Of course these are just a few suggestions, but each family is unique and has their own idea of what makes the perfect family holiday. Tribes tailor makes holidays to individual wishes, so families really can get the exciting and memorable holiday they want to share.
