Homeowners Step Up Purchases of Upgrades To Strengthen Screened Enclosures Over Winter, Before Atlantic Storm Season, President of Venetian Builders Says Today

South Florida homeowners are using the time between hurricane seasons to order screened enclosure upgrades over patios and pools, said Christopher Noe, president of Venetian Builders, Inc., Miami, the region’s leading installer of custom-designed, custom-built screen enclosures and sunrooms. Winter and early spring are good times to strengthen enclosures and patio covers, well ahead of storm forecasts, Noe said.

"K" braces add significantly to the strength of a screened enclosure without seriously diminishing the view out or sunlight in.

There’s never a guarantee against storm damage. But you can, with judicious preparation, reduce the likelihood of serious loss.

More South Florida homeowners are ordering mid-winter patio cover and screened enclosure upgrades this year to protect their property investments in advance of the Atlantic storm season, Christopher Noe, president of Venetian Builders, Inc., Miami, said today.

Venetian custom-designs and custom-builds strong sunrooms and hurricane-resistant screen enclosures throughout South Florida, and it designs and installs upgrades that strengthen existing aluminum additions to increase hurricane resistance.

“We have a history of not only building to code, but exceeding code,” Noe said. “We know how to strengthen a structure in a high-wind area – not just that West Palm Beach pool enclosure or a Boca Raton screened patio enclosure along the coast, but also an enclosure that’s inland, where golf courses, parks and waterways are plentiful.”
Structural upgrades are critical for homeowners whose aluminum additions were built before the Florida Building Code was updated, Noe said.

“If your screened enclosure was built before 2010, you should have it assessed for upgrade needs,” Noe said. Venetian strengthens screened structures built by any company.

The website of the National Hurricane Center, nhc.noaa.gov, says the Atlantic named hurricane season officially begins June 1 and ends Nov. 30. “Mother Nature doesn’t always follow a schedule, of course, and it’s not unusual for storms to occur before or after the seasonal dates,” Noe said.

In 2012, for the third year running, the Atlantic spawned 19 named storms, nhc.noaa.gov reported. Seven were hurricanes, including Sandy, whose devastating fury landed full-force on the mid-Atlantic and parts of New England.
The website has not forecast storm occurrence and severity for 2013.

“By acting early, smart homeowners beat the rush and make certain their properties will be ready for the high wind and rain that named storms bring,” Noe said.

Noe cautioned that storm damage can’t be predicted. “There’s never a guarantee against storm damage,” Noe said. “But you can, with judicious preparation, reduce the likelihood of serious loss.”

A Venetian Builders upgrade for a screened patio enclosure, patio cover or screen pool enclosure may include “K” framing or cable corner bracing, additional roof bracing, bigger and thicker gusset plates and stronger corrosion-resistant fasteners. Upgrades are intended to transfer wind loads to the base of the structure, away from the walls. Venetian ensures that new bracing matches colors and styles, and looks like it’s a planned part of the structure, Noe said.

“We understand that with your home, aesthetics are as important as strength,” Noe said.

Estimates are free, detailed and written.

Venetian Builders installs upgrades, and designs and installs attractive sunrooms, patio enclosures and covers, and screen pool enclosures in West Palm Beach, Weston, Wellington, Hollywood, Stuart, Davie, Miramar, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Miami Gardens, Homestead and surrounding communities.
