“My heart overflows with noble words. To the king I must speak the song I have made; my tongue as nimble as the pen of a scribe.” The first strophe of the 45th chapter of the Book of Psalms may best describe author Mihaela S. Hegstrom as she returns to the publishing scene with her second collection poems. First released in Romania and in Romanian language, her latest book, titled The Mysteries of My Soul, is now made available for all English readers around the world.
More than two years after publishing “Praises in the Storm,” her first volume of literary pieces, Hegstrom continues to reveal in this second installment her “sensitive heart, keen mind, and compassionate spirit.” These characteristics spring forth from being a conscientious mother with clarity of vision in completing a work that shall become a lasting legacy for her children and her children’s children.
An excerpt from the dedication of Mysteries of My Soul read:
"With much pleasure and emotion, I dedicate this book, my second volume of poems, entitled The Mysteries of My Soul, to my kids, Mary and David, as well as to their future families. I truly desire that they, along with their future families, will feel the presence of God through the reading of these inspirational poems. As with my first volume, Praises in the Storm, I desire that these poems will remain a legacy for the generations to follow, helping them to cry out and look to God in all the situations that He allows them to encounter."
Aside from her family, many others have come to be touched by Hegstrom’s poems, as revealed by her readers’ testimonies. “Wonderful work and I am delighted that she remains so motivated to reflect on God’s goodness in her life and share those thoughts with others!” shared John R. Brunsting, Senior Mathematics Consultant of Silver Strong & Associates. “The poems demonstrate how powerful a simple praise to God can be in overcoming daily hardships,” added Young and Curie Lee, missionaries.
Creative, inspiring, and spiritually uplifting, The Mysteries of My Soul is one book that provides varied forms of nourishment for readers’ souls no matter where they are in their spiritual journey. Hegstrom, despite her literary accomplishments thus far, does not take credit for her poetry, but attributes all honor and all the glory to God. She humbly acknowledges her dependence on God—a mark of a true servant overflowing with love.
