Stevenage, London (PRWEB UK) 5 February 2013
BlackBerry 10, the latest platform for the smartphones, will be delivering tools and services to the team throughout the season but fans will also benefit from the sponsorship. BlackBerry and Mercedes AMG Petronas are said to be collaborating on new apps that will enhance the fan experience. Fans will also notice the BlackBerry iconic logo on the car, on the headrest, on the race suits of Rosberg and Hamilton, as well as on the team’s race wear kit.
Mercedes AMG Petronas and Blackberry will be working closely through the year as the new mobile computing partner develops ways that the BlackBerry 10 can help the team become more successful at its headquarters and at each race. Members of the team, including Hamilton and Rosberg will use the devices.
Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team principal Ross Brawn was quoted as saying “On the day that our new Silver Arrow, the F1 W04, is launched, we are very pleased to announce our partnership with BlackBerry. We are looking forward to embracing the new BlackBerry 10 platform at both a technical and operational level, as well as collaborating with the team at BlackBerry to bring new mobile innovation to Mercedes AMG Petronas”.
For their part, BlackBerry spokesman Frank Boulben Chief Marketing Officer at Blackberry said “It is a natural fit for BlackBerry to partner with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team to deliver value through technical and marketing collaboration. We have built BlackBerry 10 to keep people moving, and we believe the essence of this will be delivered at many levels through our partnership”.
Momentum continues to build for the Mercedes team for the 2013 season.
As for the race car, the new Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 W04 offers not only a good looking design and outstanding driving dynamics for the drivers, its new lightweight construction is in tune with AMG’s “Lightweight Performance" strategy. Developing 464 kW (631 hp) for a kerb weight of 1550 kg, the SLS AMG Coupé Black Series accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and boasts the most powerful internal combustion vehicle currently made by Mercedes-Benz.
It was announced late last year that Stevenage native Lewis Hamilton would join his friend Nico Rosberg in driving for Mercedes. Lewis began racing karts in the Rye House Kart Circuit next to Rye House Stadium in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. As a lad Hamilton attended the John Henry Newman School, a voluntary aided Catholic secondary school in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
This is a particularly exciting time too for those at the Mercedes Stevenage retailer. Not only are they seeing one of their own in Hamilton get behind the wheel of a Mercedes for the Formula 1 season, but have had their own share of excitement with the debut of New Mercedes A Class models.
2013 holds great promise for Hamilton, Mercedes, Formula One, and the new BlackBerry 10 platform.
