According to an article published for by Dr. Mehmet Oz, “In one brand-new report, guys who ate lots of fruit and veggies, whole grains, lean protein and low-fat dairy products along with olive oil had higher levels of osteocalcin -- a protein that keeps bones and teeth strong -- compared with guys on a low-fat diet who didn't use olive oil.”

The article goes on to state that another study found that olive oil can even decrease the risk of having a stroke by 35 percent. More studies indicated that two tablespoons of olive oil a day can decrease your risk of heart disease by 44 percent. It even helps control blood sugar levels which can help prevent Type 2 diabetes.

So how do you incorporate more olive oil into your diet? Dr. Oz gives some suggestions, including buying two different types, one for keeping at room temperature (for dunking bread and dripping on salads), and another for cooking. It’s important to know the best temperature to use when cooking with olive oil – different types are better at different temperatures, reports the article. In addition, you can switch out butter or coconut oil (both of which are high in saturated fat) and replace it with olive oil.

Natalie Sexenian, Marketing Manager for Bellucci Premium, responds to the article by stating, “It’s important for people to understand the impressive health benefits of olive oil. By understanding the way it can affect health, more people will hopefully take advantage of incorporating olive oil into their meals. It’s healthy and delicious!”
