The Doe Run Company has released its third sustainability report, entitled Driving Sustainability, outlining how the world’s largest integrated lead producer delivers on its environmental, social and economic responsibilities.

Since 2009, Doe Run has produced an annual sustainability report following Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines. The GRI is the world’s most widely used sustainability reporting framework. It was developed through a multi-stakeholder process, and encourages companies to share information that employees, communities and other audiences care about.

Doe Run’s most recent report highlights two company wide initiatives, including the development of eight Sustainability Principles, and a push to help employees carry out the company’s vision, mission, values and strategy. Readers also will find information about Doe Run’s economic, social and environmental impacts. Additional stories showcase community collaboration, employee safety and development, and environmental programs. Readers can view the report online at sustainability.doerun.com.

“Successful businesses have to balance their social, economic and environmental responsibilities in order to be sustainable. At Doe Run, we’ve established Sustainability Principles and a strategy that will help our business thrive in the long term,” said Jerry Pyatt, president and CEO. “We will continue to pursue environmental upgrades, employee development and community partnerships that drive us toward that goal.”

The GRI framework sets guidelines that organizations use to transparently measure and report performance. Doe Run’s 2011 report follows G3.1 guidelines, and has been reviewed by GRI’s Report Services, which confirmed the report fulfills the requirements of application Level C.

“Our success is dependent on our many stakeholders, so we welcome input and feedback on our sustainability efforts,” added Pyatt. To provide feedback, contact corporateinfo(at)doerun(dot)com.
