The three founding brothers of Fürst had the concept for their shirts nailed down: Made-in-America shirts designed to fit athletically built men. This meant broader shoulders, longer sleeves, and a tapered midsection and waist. The final decision before production would be which material to use. After months of researching materials, the brothers decided on Supima® cotton.
Supima®, an abbreviation for Superior Pima, is a strain of extra-long staple Pima cotton grown in only a few regions around the world, including the Southwest US. The long fibers make the cotton stronger and contribute to its fineness.
“We knew we had a strong business concept after recognizing the need for a clothing company that catered to athletic men, but we needed the right material to differentiate us more,” explains George Bennitt, co-founder of Fürst. “We needed a cotton that was soft and comfortable, yet sturdy enough to stand up to gym sessions and wash cycles. Supima® was exactly what we were searching for. That Supima® cotton is grown and sourced in America made the decision even easier.”
Fürst crew necks come in 100% Supima® cotton. V-necks, on the other hand, come in two styles; 100% Supima® cotton and a blend of 50% Supima® cotton and 50% Micro Modal.
“The 50/50 Supima® and Micro Modal blend provided an alternate look and feel for our v-neck shirts,” says Justin Bennitt, co-founder of Fürst. “When the two materials are combined in the manufacturing process it produces an exceptionally comfortable shirt but also creates a vintage, slub appearance.”
All Fürst shirts can be ordered from their website at http://www.furstapparel.com. There are a variety of colors to choose from and all shirts are $25.00.
