Representatives from the UK flooring company have been analysing the overly positive results of the latest Trends Survey report to emerge from a leading industry body.

The findings from this report can only suggest positive movement for the UK construction industry

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has recently published the results of the latest Future Trends Survey report, which was compiled in December 2012 and based on the experiences of its members. Despite various reports surfacing in the last few months demonstrating the volatile state of the construction industry, such as the latest State of Trade survey from the FMB, this survey suggests that architects are currently experiencing a stable market in the UK. This comes as heartening news for an entire sector that has seen challenges in the wake of the recent economic recession.

According to a press release issued by RIBA, both the private and commercial housing sectors are said to be experiencing positive growth, though the organisation was quick to advise that the industry was not yet returning to a state of overall growth.

A representative from Green Apple Flooring believes that the findings from this report can only suggest positive movement for the UK construction industry as a whole. He has commented on the fact that architects have had to apply their expertise to different areas in recent times in order to compete for business, an approach that many struggling home improvement retailers have also had to adopt in order to thrive in a sector that has changed dramatically since the credit crunch several years ago.

“Whereas at the turn of the 20th century architects were concentrating on completing new builds, professionals in this field are now focusing on refurbishing and conserving existing properties. In fact, according to this survey, existing buildings make up approximately 64% of RIBA members’ workloads, and this figure is only set to rise.

“It’s been a tricky shift for many architectural firms to come to terms with, but it’s clear that there is still opportunity out there for such companies and that the market is beginning to recover.”
