Washington, DC (PRWEB) February 08, 2013
The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (Meso Foundation) will once again broadcast the programming of its annual conference via a live stream available on its website, free of charge. The Meso Foundation understands that many mesothelioma patients are unable to travel, and has therefore made available online, free of charge, all conference presentations. To watch the conference programming from the comfort of one’s home requires only a computer (or tablet/smart phone) and an internet connection. The programming stream can be accessed live starting on March 7 at 8 AM Eastern time at http://www.curemeso.org/symposium.
Mesothelioma, a malignant tumor of the lining of the lung, abdomen, or heart known to be caused by exposure to asbestos is considered one of the most aggressive of all cancers. Approximately 3,000 Americans are diagnosed with mesothelioma every year, and immediately they are faced with the huge challenge of finding a specialist, finding mesothelioma information and making decisions about treatment. Currently, only one FDA-approved chemotherapy treatment exists, however several clinical trials and options for surgery are available.
The Meso Foundation’s Symposium is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for patients and their families to learn about the disease and its treatment directly from top experts in mesothelioma, in easy to understand presentations, small-group interactions and even one-on-one conversations. In addition to the latest medical information, the Symposium addresses topics and issues relevant to all attendees, including patients, caregivers and those who have lost loved ones to this disease.
The full agenda is available at http://www.curemeso.org/symagenda, and the featured topics include genetics and mesothelioma, and updates on research, new drugs, and clinical trials for mesothelioma. Featured speakers include Drs. Joseph Testa, Jill Ohar, Harvey Pass, Michele Carbone, Lee Krug and many more!
ABOUT THE MESOTHELIOMA APPLIED RESEARCH FOUNDATION
The Meso Foundation is the only 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating mesothelioma and easing the suffering caused by it. The Meso Foundation actively seeks philanthropic support to fund peer-reviewed mesothelioma research; provide patient support services and education; and advocate Congress for increased federal funding for mesothelioma research. The Meso Foundation is the only non-government funder of peer reviewed scientific research to establish more effective treatments for mesothelioma and, someday, a cure for this rare and aggressive cancer. To date, the Foundation has awarded over $8.2 million to research.
