Finds 200,000 IT Jobs as Reports Show IT Industry Experiencing a Jobs Boom

One report on the IT industry says that around 200,000 jobs were created in the last three months while another states that hiring in the Bay Area has reached dot-com era levels.

Two different reports, one published by Janco Associates and the other by two Silicon Valley based organizations, show that the IT industry, especially in the Silicon Valley area, is booming and creating many jobs.

Job search website has also been able to track down 245,000 IT jobs across the United States as of the first week of February.

Janco Associates, an IT consulting firm, in its report, has said that the IT job market added 73,500 new jobs in January. The firm analyzed data from the BLS to create this report. The report further says that the number of new jobs being created in the industry, especially for mid-level managers and developers, is enough to safely conclude that the IT sector was in full recovery mode. The report also mentions that at least 200,000 IT jobs have been added in the last three months. This figure is based on the survey it conducted of 106 CIOs.

Another study released by the San Jose-based Joint Venture Silicon Valley and Mountain View-based Silicon Valley Community Foundation says that the area’s job growth has now returned to dot-com era boom levels. The “2013 Silicon Valley Index” shows that the nine-county northern California area known as the Bay Area added 92,000 jobs.

Out of this figure, around 46 percent i.e. 42,000 jobs were just in the Santa Clara and San Mateo counties – traditionally considered the heart of the Silicon Valley. Many jobs in these areas are also being created in other industries such as construction and hospitality as IT professionals are spending more and creating demand in the general economy. has been able to track down 21,000 IT jobs in San Jose and around 6,000 IT jobs in Seattle.
