Advocate Health Care, the state’s largest health system announced this week that it will relocate two of its system support centers, Advocate’s Oak Brook Support Center and its Touhy Support Center in Park Ridge, Ill. to Downers Grove.

Advocate Health Care, the state’s largest health system announced this week that it will relocate two of its system support centers, Advocate’s Oak Brook Support Center and its Touhy Support Center in Park Ridge, Ill. to Downers Grove.

The move stems from Advocate’s decision to create a new centralized business office (CBO) at its current campus. The CBO will combine all of Advocate’s Chicago area patient access/registration and patient accounting operations into a single department.

“We are very fortunate and pleased that we will soon call Downers Grove home to our corporate support center,” said Jim Skogsbergh Advocate’s president and CEO. “The new space allows us to bring the unique disciplines of more than 600 employees from our Support Center locations together in an integrated team environment.”

Advocate made its decision to turn its Oak Brook campus into a CBO, after reviewing 50 different sites across the state. “We put a lot of time and thought into creating an ideal business office that would bring together our talented revenue staff in one central location,” said Dominic Nakis, chief financial officer. “Our Oak Brook space meets all of the requirements for establishing a state-of-the-art CBO, including its size and centralized location.”

Although the new location represents a reduction in square footage of the combined Advocate support center locations relocating, leaders say the new open environment is ideal for creating more collaboration. Located in the Highland Landmark Complex, Advocate says Downers Grove is also an ideal location because of the strong relationships built with the village over the years, primarily through Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. Good Samaritan, which employs more than 2,600 people, has been a part of this community for 36 years.

“We are honored that the state’s largest health care system has selected our community for their new headquarters” said Downers Grove Mayor Martin Tully. “Downers Grove will now be home to both Advocate Health Care and one of its premier hospitals: Advocate Good Samaritan.”

Advocate will occupy 3 ½ floors in the seven-story building located 3075 Highland Parkway. The move is expected to be complete by late spring 2013.
