metal-on-metal hip implants can cause damage to bone and/or soft tissue

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) February 12, 2013

AttorneyOne.com, a recognized authority on law, updated the website recently and they are now actively providing expert opinion in view of the recent news on Wright Hip Implant lawsuits.

According to court data updated on January 14th, 2013, by the US Judicial Panel on Multi-District Litigation (MDL), there are 40 actions pending in the Wright Conserve Hip Implant MDL (U.S. District Court, Northern District of Georgia, MDL 2329). The cases in this litigation primarily involve alleged defects in Wright’s Conserve line of hip implant products. Most plaintiffs’ claims focus upon “the metal-on-metal design of the Conserve products and the alleged propensity of the devices to generate high levels of metal debris, cause metallosis in the surrounding tissue and/or fail early (including loosening of the acetabular cup)”.

The FDA issued safety communication on January 17th, 2013 informing that metal-on-metal hip implants can cause damage to bone and/or soft tissue surrounding the implant and joint. As the FDA notes “soft tissue damage may lead to pain, implant loosening, device failure and the need for revision surgery (a surgical procedure where the implant is removed and another is put in its place)”.

Taking into consideration the latest developments, AttorneyOne.com updated the website and, now, can actively provide an expert opinion including how to get in contact with legal counsel easily and inexpensively in case of alleged Wright Hip Implant severe complications. Sean Burke, director of Media Relations for AttorneyOne.com, adds that the relevant information illustrates that people continue to file Wright Hip Implant lawsuits. "For that reason", he continues, "our focus should squarely fall on getting the word out and assisting people in finding the right legal assistance.”

In 2004, Wright Medical issued a recall on its metal acetabular hip cups used in the Conserve hip systems because of a manufacturer defect that resulted in a seam or ridge in the inner acetabular cup surface leading to the component’s failure.
