“During our recent Ohio Hispanic Legislative Day, we formally announced the program and the response by both Hispanic business owners and elected officials was overwhelming."
Columbus, Ohio (PRWEB) February 11, 2013
Center for Hispanic Leadership (CHL) will be partnering with corporations with a major presence or headquartered in the State of Ohio to offer $3.9 million dollars in scholarship grants in support of 10,000 Hispanic Leadership Certifications from CHL’s online Hispanic Leadership Academy - that is the first interactive, video-based training and certification platform whose curriculum was specifically designed for and about Hispanic business owners, employees and companies that desire to conduct business with Hispanics.
This statewide economic development program will be led by CHL Ohio Chapter President, Rafi Rodriguez to help Hispanic businesses more rapidly grow and prosper as a viable economic development engine. The goal of the program is to provide Hispanic business owners the culturally relevant training to become better leaders and business operators.
“During our recent Ohio Hispanic Legislative Day, we formally announced the program and the response by both Hispanic business owners and elected officials was overwhelming, says Rodriquez. The demand for a culturally relevant certification and training program is extremely high and we are proud to support both corporations and the Hispanic business community in Ohio. As a business owner myself, I recently got my Hispanic Leadership Certification and wish I had this invaluable training over 25 years ago. It would have helped me reach success in my career much sooner.”
Registration for Hispanic businesses in Ohio is now open. CHL’s economic development program will offer corporations an authentic approach to engage with the growing number of Hispanic owned businesses in Ohio that are eager to build new relationships as both suppliers and customers.
“It is extremely important for Hispanic businesses to grow and compete confidentially in the marketplace, says CHL Founder, Glenn Llopis. There are not enough culturally relevant educational and training resources to help Hispanics flourish as leaders, business owners and supplier diversity partners. CHL is excited to support the fastest growing sector of business owners by in America by helping them bridge relations with corporations that are not informed about the opportunity to advance community and commerce in Ohio. CHL’s Hispanic Leadership Academy will be the enabler to activate this much needed relationship.
CHL economic development program in Ohio is the first of several programs throughout the United States to help Hispanic owned businesses overcome the challenges they face to grow and compete. According to a 2012 survey conducted by McCombs School of Business, and the Kauffman Foundation, Hispanic-owned businesses with paid employees need strategies that help them increase business training in management and communication skills – and improve access to public and private-sector customers.
