Chicago, IL (PRWEB) February 13, 2013
After only two weeks of play as the College Improv Tournament (CIT) Alumni League, it became apparent to everyone involved that something special was happening. Every improv team playing together was doing so at an impressive level. Clear that the league was more than a collection of former college improvisers, the CIT Alumni League name no longer fit. That's why the league will now be referred to as the Chicago Improv League.
The league consists of eight teams that play each other over the course of the season for a title and $500 prize. Chicago Improv League teams include: Balt & Co., The Barnstormers, Besides Dinosaurs, Dads' Night In, d'Hotel Winnetka, Jefferson, Mercury and Third Place.
“The Chicago Improv League is collection of emerging artists ready to improvise for their own tribe of the digital generation. Each of these improv teams has their own wild energy in their approach to long form improv,” says Jonathan Pitts, executive director of Chicago Improv Productions.
The Sunday night performances feature a double header of two teams going head-to-head in each match. Each week, there is an overall theme on which to base audience suggestions. Plus, in addition to voting for their favorite team, attendees can digitally interact with each other through a live video stream projected on ComedySportz' twin TV monitors.
The new start time for the Chicago Improv League is 8:30 p.m. every Sunday night, beginning Feb. 17 at ComedySportz, 929 W. Belmont Ave. The shows will run every Sunday at 8:30 p.m. until May 12, 2013. Tickets are now only $5 and can be purchased at ComedySportzChicago.com or by calling 773-549-8080.
