Only nine of these Santa Ynez winemakers have tasting rooms, and all of these amazing wineries (which produce some of the best wines we have tasted - ever!) make only small lots and are hard to find by the average wine consumer.

Passionate wine consumers will gather in Solvang this Saturday for an unprecedented opportunity to taste over 100 wines poured by 32 artisan winemakers from the Santa Ynez Valley at The Garagiste Festival: Southern Exposure. Produced by the same team who launched Paso Robles’ popular annual Garagiste Festival, which was named one of the ‘Top Nine Incredible Epicurean Vacations’ in the world by ABC News,* the Solvang festival showcases hard-to-find exceptional wineries, most of which do not have their own tasting rooms.

The Santa Ynez Valley winemakers will be pouring over 20 varietals, as well as unique blends reflecting the American Garagistes’ tradition of renegade, hand-crafted and highest quality winemaking. The tickets to the tasting are going fast, but are currently available for just $50 at http://garagistefestival.com.

“Only nine of these Santa Ynez winemakers have tasting rooms, and all of these amazing wineries (which produce some of the best wines we have tasted - ever!) make only small lots and are hard to find by the average wine consumer. Southern Exposure not only provides consumers with the opportunity to taste all of these wines in one place, but also to meet and interact with the winemakers themselves. And, as usual at Garagiste events, several of our winemakers are bringing barrel samples, new releases and sneak peeks,” said Garagiste Festival Co-founder Doug Minnick. “We are excited to offer wine lovers a day trip to discovery in Solvang -- and at one of the best festival ticket prices ever.”

The Garagiste Festival: Southern Exposure Grand Tasting takes place at the beautiful, Mission-style Veterans Memorial Hall in the heart of Solvang, California this Saturday, February 16th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

The Southern Exposure festival benefits the Cal Poly Wine and Viticulture program and has received support from multiple Central Coast sponsors including Glenn Burdette, Chumash Casino Resort, mWEBB Communications, KCOY, Wandering Dog Wine Bar, Concourse at the Central Coast Wine Services, Wines & Vines, Farm Supply Company, KRUSH 92.5, Sempli Glassware, Central Coast Tent & Party, Well Bread, Distinctive Glassware, the Hamlet Inn, The Good Life Cellar, and Hotel Corque.

The Garagiste Festivals, produced by Garagiste Events, are the first and only festivals dedicated to discovering and promoting artisan ‘garagiste’** winemakers and showcase high-quality, cutting-edge, small production, commercial wineries that produce fewer than 1,200 cases a year.

Wineries pouring at the festival are A-non-ah-mus, Altman Winery, Autonom, Baehner Fournier Vineyards, Blair Fox Cellars, Casa Dumetz, Center of Effort, Cholame Vineyard, Cordon Wines, Deovlet Wines, El Rey Wines, Frequency Wines, Ground Effect Wine Co., J. Wilkes Wines, Kaena Wine Co., Kessler-Haak Wines, La Fenetre Wines, Larner Winery, Luminesce, C. **Garagistes (gar-uh-zhē-stuh) is a term originally used in the Bordeaux region of France to denigrate renegade small-lot wine makers, sometimes working in their "garages" (anything considered not a chateau), who refused to follow the “rules,” and is now a full-fledged movement responsible for making some of the best wine in the world.
