Airtel (http://www.airtel.in), India’s largest telecommunications company and one of the world’s top 5 mobile service providers in terms of global subscribers, announces its selection of the Excitor’s Dynamic Mobile Exchange (DME) (http://www.excitor.com) for delivery of secure BYOD solutions to its customers.

DME takes Airtel’s offering way beyond commodity Mobile Device Management solutions, to provide a secure container for Enterprise email, calendar, contacts and business applications including corporate intranet, Sharepoint and ERP systems, on a wide range of mobile devices. This agreement allows for the distribution of DME by Airtel to its enterprise customers in India under the name ‘airtel DME’.

Drew Kelton, President Airtel Business, Bharti Airtel said, “With the changing business environment, youth driven trends like BYOD are gaining ground in India. According to industry estimates, approximately 70% of all smart phone-owning professionals are now using their personal devices to access corporate data, but almost 80% of today’s BYOD activity remains inadequately managed, leaving security concerns unaddressed. This calls for businesses to implement innovative solutions that allow them to take control and benefit from BYOD phenomenon, without compromising corporate data.

At airtel Business, it is our constant endeavor to offer innovative and scalable solutions to our customers in this changing business environment.
DME provides a secure mobile solution to our corporate customers, allowing their workforce to access company information - anytime, anywhere.”

India has the third largest mobile user base in the world and is experiencing double digit annual growth rates in smartphone sales – which make India very interesting market for Excitor.

“Companies now recognize that to allow the freedoms users expect on their own devices, whilst retaining rigorous security controls over corporate data, they need to go beyond MDM,” says Rene Stockner, CEO Excitor. “airtel’s selection of Excitor’s DME is testament to the integrity and strength of the solutions we offer. The scope of the DME Corporate Container, to secure not only mail, but also corporate intranets and applications on mobile devices with DME AppBox, has hit a sweet spot in the market. Airtel are now equipped to be a leader in that space.”
