Palm Beach County of southeastern Florida is a hidden paradise spread with the wealth of retirees. It is home to many company headquarters that’ve fled northern winters for a warm, sunshiny place in the Gold Coast with lenient tax laws. For the FBI’s Special Agent Jerry Simmons, it is the feeding grounds of many species of sharks, American and foreign criminals wanting the same place as the legal migrants. The nights offer what daysides in Palm Beach have seemingly no connection to – an internecine war between security men and con artists under the light of a Killer Moon.

Palm Beach is author Dennis Tenwalde’s stage for his new novel of American crime fighters – the stakes are high, the crimes hi-tech and the few good men who combat it are the unsung heroes of America’s last line of defense against the tidal wave of scams that is epidemic in America. Tenwalde gives a subtle confirmation of this as he depicts the brazen, even gratuitous, lawlessness that infects even the bosses of “legitimate” businesses. An ordinary day gives Special Agent Simmons an investigation into a lawsuit filed by a businessman against his partner. It turns up connections to the Canadian Mafia and many other worms in a can.

Killer Moon does not stop at this. It has other criminals in the works, including a psycho cop-killer who is just starting his paranoid crime spree up and down the eastern coast of Florida. Simmons and his fellow agents are busy – way too busy for cons and scams to crop up on the active file – but they do and they will. Dennis Tenwalde parlays decades of fighting crime into an authentic thrill, a closer look into the way Americans bilk fellow Americans. He writes about the elite professionals who must combat such reprobate behavior across society in this book with enormous appeal for fans of the crime genre. Readers will come out of it assured that as long as there are con artists out there, there will be good people on their tails.
