Mr. Tolomer Brings Both Vision and Banking Expertise to NYBA Board Position

The New York Bankers Association (NYBA) announced the selection of John M. Tolomer, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Westchester Bank, to its Board of Directors at their Annual Meeting on January 31st.

Michael P. Smith, NYBA President & CEO, stated, “John is a welcome addition to our Board and brings great insight with his thirty plus years as a leader in our industry.” Mr. Smith continued, “Given the continued success of The Westchester Bank which John has spearheaded and his collaborative business building skill sets, the NYBA looks forward to John’s service as a valued Board Member in helping us formulate growth strategies for the future”.

Mr. Tolomer joined The Westchester Bank, a full service community bank headquartered in Yonkers, NY, in November of 2008 and has steered the extraordinary growth of the Bank in a very challenging economy with assets now in excess $325 million in just over four years. He has been in the Commercial Banking field since 1977 working for Citibank and The Bank of New York for more than 25 years and serving in various senior management positions in both Commercial and Retail Banking. In 2003, Mr. Tolomer joined Commerce Bank to spearhead its de Novo expansion into the Westchester market where he was responsible for rapidly building a strong franchise for the bank. In 2005, he was named President of Commerce/Florida and was responsible for establishing the Florida market.

Mr. Tolomer stated, “It’s an honor to be selected to the NYBA Board and a personal privilege to serve with so many outstanding fellow Board Members and bankers toward the common goal of better meeting the needs of personal and business customers, strengthening our industry and accelerating the state’s economic growth.”

Mr. Tolomer is a lifelong resident of Westchester County and remains an active proponent for community involvement. He currently Co-Chairs of the March of Dimes ‘March for Babies Westchester Walk’ and serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Hudson River Museum. Mr. Tolomer has also been a past member of the Board of Directors of the Westchester County Association, The Leukemia Society and the United Way.
