Full-time mom Jenny Yee is making a splash in the apparel business with a new company she runs out of her own home.
Dinky Dimples, which offers Yee’s handmade line of animal-themed clothing, has garnered national attention through Etsy.com and national publications like PeoplePets.com and Pregnancy & Newborn magazine.
“Children grow up so quickly, and it’s important to cherish the time when they just get to be silly and lighthearted,” said Yee. “I am very proud of the national attention Dinky Dimples has received lately, as it reflects the attention and hard work I put into each design. The children’s clothing I create, as well as my adult line, captures an innocent and care-free spirit that all of us have in some way.”
With Dinky Dimples, Yee creates whimsically designed clothing accessories for children and adults. All of her adorable, animal-themed accessories are handmade using patterns of her own creation. The line’s hats and bibs are available in a variety of fun shapes, including pandas, giraffes, monkeys, ducks and dozens of animals. Yee is constantly adding to the Dinky Dimples lines as she comes up with new inspirations drawn from her life with her husband and three daughters, as well as requests from her customers.
Yee began selling her creations at local craft fairs in 2005. About four years ago, she took Dinky Dimples global by offering her clothing on the popular online crafts marketplace Etsy.com. It was an overnight success, and by December 2009 the line was featured in a Pregnancy & Newborn magazine article showcasing the best in holiday-themed children’s wear.
Only a year later, Dinky Dimples was selected as an Etsy Fave, a platform through which the website highlights its most popular items. The website’s review caught the attention of PeoplePets.com, People magazine’s exclusive online pet publication.
“I had no idea that Dinky Dimples would take off so quickly or be this successful,” said Yee. “I feel very fortunate to be doing something I love, as creating clothing accessories from home allows me to spend time with my family. I like to think that Dinky Dimples allows me to pass a bit of the happiness I have established with my own family to my loyal customers.”
Dinky Dimples clothing accessories are made from infant-friendly fleece, and all are handmade and machine washable. To check out the line, visit http://www.etsy.com/shop/DinkyDimples.
