As Valentine’s Day nears, Shopatron gift brands saw boosts in online sales similar to last year’s pre-holiday rush.

Shopatron reports a last-minute spike in online sales of gift brands during the days leading up to Valentine’s Day.

Gift brands that work with Shopatron saw sales more than double (with a 104% increase) between the weekend of Feb. 2-3 and the pre-Valentine’s weekend (Feb. 9-10). This sales spike is similar to increases seen in previous years as Valentine’s Day approaches.

“The power of online retail is most visible around holidays like Valentine’s Day,” said Shopatron SVP of Marketing Mark Grondin. “Last-minute shoppers want the fastest, most convenient way to purchase gifts. And online fits the bill, especially when online retailers can offer advanced fulfillment options—like in-store pickup and ship-to-store—which are best suited to meet the time demands of last-minute shoppers.”

According to the National Retail Federation, more than one-quarter (26.3%) of Valentine’s Day shopping this year will be done online. Only brands that utilize Shopatron can marry those online sales with local retailers.
