Carroll advises clients on governmental and legislative issues that impact their businesses and regularly represents such clients before governmental entities at the local, state, and federal levels. When he isn’t practicing law, he enjoys riding his quarter horse Lexi and volunteering at Hope Farms, a family-oriented, integrated program that offers job skills training, therapeutic and recreational riding lessons to children, youth and adults with autism, traumatic brain injuries or other disabilities.
In addition to his work with Hope Farms, Carroll serves on the Board of Directors for Children’s Hospital Colorado, the National Western Stock Show, as well as the Board of Trustees for Metropolitan State University of Denver.
According to its website, SCBA was formed in September of 1971, in order to create a self-help group to instill professionalism and serve as a vehicle for the exchange of ideas among African-American lawyers. When it first started, there were less than 15 African-American attorneys practicing law in Colorado. The initial membership meetings were held in members' homes and in their law offices. Presently, there are over 200 African-American attorneys in Colorado. SCBA is also the Colorado affiliate of the National Bar Association, which is the nation’s oldest and largest association of African-American lawyers and judges.
