The 34th Annual Training Institute Behavioral Health and Addictive Disorders in Clearwater, FL, is being held right now, where the greatest minds in the world of addiction come together to share the latest and most effective techniques and therapies for addiction.

There are over 400 exhibitors, and therapists. Some the headliners at the conference this year include, Gabor Maté, author of In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction, Pat Love, author and family therapist, Pat Pizzo, former chemist in the Toxicology Lab for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, DC, and Don Meichenbaum, author of Treatment of Patients with Anger Control Problems. These are just a few of the presenters at the conference, this week.

This year the conference has a strong focus on trauma and the huge role it plays in addiction. There are many workshops and speakers that cover the basics, on how trauma starts, all the way to the neurological effects of trauma on the brain. A large portion of drug addicts and alcoholics have trauma and they turn to drugs and alcohol to help cope with these. As science and medicine progress, the treatment of addiction does as well. To stay on top of addiction, Andrey Rossin and Into Action visit conferences and trade shows to learn the most effective treatment modalities for complex addiction.

“Most of our clients that come into the center have many underlying issues other than addiction. The addiction has to be treated and contained first. When that is done, there are deeper issues that surface that were hidden by the addiction, which if left untreated will take them back out again.” Life in recovery is a continual growth process and Into Action Treatment as a center is learning and growing with the times. They just celebrated their 1 year anniversary, and have had over 100 clients come through their doors during that time. Rossin and his staff put their clients first, and part of the way they do this is by traveling to events to learn and grow as a treatment center.
