Tulsa, Okla. (PRWEB) February 14, 2013
The 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards nominees were announced Wednesday, and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa has earned a nomination for Casino of the Year.
The ACM Awards will broadcast live on April 7 at 8 p.m., but Casino of the Year will not be awarded until the ACM honors event this fall in Nashville.
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa is competing against Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho, Calif., Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, Wash., Red Rock Casino & Resort in Las Vegas and WinStar World Casino in Thackerville.
“It is an honor to be nominated for Casino of the Year by the Academy of Country Music,” said Shawn Slaton, CEO of Cherokee Nation Businesses, which oversees the operation of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa. “Our staff has worked extremely hard at The Joint to provide high quality entertainment to country music fans since we opened the doors in the fall of 2010.”
The Joint is Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s 2,700-seat entertainment venue, which features state-of-the-art sound and lighting that is the equivalent to many larger venues across the country.
“Earning this nomination is a big accomplishment for our production team that does an outstanding job every show,” said Danny Finnerty, entertainment director for Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa. “I believe we have one of the highest quality venues of any size in this part of the country. In the last couple of years we’ve hosted many of country music’s biggest stars.”
Three-time Male Vocalist of the Year and this year’s Entertainer of the Year nominee and host Blake Shelton played the venue in 2011.
Oklahoman Vince Gill is nominated for Vocal Event of the Year for the Kelly Clarkson duet “Don’t Rush.” Rascal Flatts is also nominated for the award for their Natasha Bedingfield duet “Easy.” Both Gill and Rascal Flatts have performed at The Joint.
Little Big Town leads group nominations with four nods, including Vocal Group of the Year, Album of the Year, Single Record of the Year for “Pontoon” and Video of the Year for “Tornado.” The country sensation will play for a sold-out crowd at The Joint on April 26.
The Joint has hosted more than 40 country performances, including Reba, Hank Williams Jr., Billy Currington, Sara Evans, Big & Rich, Josh Turner, Dierks Bentley, Kenny Rogers, Dwight Yoakam and Glen Campbell. Darius Rucker previously played the venue and returns on March 8.
