eWeek: The Free Virtual to Engage Emotions

Neuroscientists, business leaders, and educators share the latest insights on emotional intelligence in the first free worldwide online festival of emotions.

eWeek is the online festival with elearning webinars, articles, and ebooks from neuroscientists, authors, and emotional intelligence experts from around the world. eWeek is the first event in a series culminating in the NexusEQ Conference at Harvard University in June. The agenda for eWeek is online at http://www.6seconds.org/e/.

Completely free, eWeek blends the latest science and practical strategies. Each day, several live webinars will be broadcast by experts on using feelings more effectively in business, education, and life. Speakers will share the latest neuroscience that reveals essential insights to create high performance at work, strengthen leadership, and also increase safety and reduce violence in schools.

In education, a growing body of research on “social emotional learning,” or SEL, shows that students who have an effective SEL curriculum earn better grades and score higher on test, while at the SAME time reducing conflict, violence, and risk behaviors. Dr. Susan Stillman, a former school counselor and professor of education will be one of the festival speakers. She explains, “This is beyond character education. We’re talking about building a safe and inclusive school climate, training teachers to use emotional intelligence tests and curriculum, and to practice the skills themselves.” In a recent public radio interview on social emotional learning, Stillman says that the key ingredients are teacher training and parent education.

Other presentations include a workshop by “The Trust Guru” Lea Brovedani on how to rebuild trust, and a special presentation by Richard Boyatzis, who developed one of the leading emotional intelligence tests together with Dr. Daniel Goleman. Boyatzis will speak about how to be a more effective coach by using feelings intentionally.

eWeek is organized by Six Seconds, a 501(c)3 nonprofit incorporated in 1997. Six Seconds is the world’s largest network of emotional intelligence experts with offices in 10 counties, and certified trainers in over 70. Six Seconds’ purpose is to support people to create positive change, everywhere, all the time. The organization is committed to support on billion people to practice the skills of EQ by 2039. They organize events like eWeek and the NexusEQ Conference (at Harvard University, June 2013) to increase understanding of the latest science of emotions, and they publish a popular emotional intelligence test called the SEI and SEI Youth Version for education.
