COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. (PRWEB) February 15, 2013
Starting February 14, McDivitt Law Firm will assist Designated Driver of Colorado Springs by providing free rides home every weekend for all active duty military personnel—no matter where they are located in Colorado Springs, Fountain, Widefield, and Security.
The partnership between McDivitt Law Firm and Designated Driver of Colorado Springs is part of the McDivitt Makes a Difference community outreach program and is aimed at making roads in our community safer for everyone. With funding from McDivitt Law Firm, Designated Driver of Colorado Springs will now be able to provide rides to military personnel between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from any location within Colorado Springs, Fountain, Widefield, and Security.
The Program’s Impact on the Community
“This program is important to us for two reasons,” says David McDivitt, Executive Vice President of McDivitt Law Firm. “First, it helps keep drunk drivers off of the roads in our communities every weekend. Through our Safe and Sober Free Ride Home program we continue to provide free cab rides home for everyone in the community during the four heaviest drinking days of the year. Now we can help reduce the number of drunk drivers on our roads every weekend. Second, teaming up with Designated Driver of Colorado Springs allows us to directly support our military community and the men and women serving in our armed forces.”
McDivitt Law Firm’s Safe and Sober Free Ride Home program continues to receive recognition from the community. In 2012 and 2013, U.S. Army Major General Joseph Anderson, Commanding General of Fort Carson, presented certificates of recognition to the law firm for their Safe and Sober Free Ride Home program. In September 2010, the Colorado State Patrol and the Pikes Peak DUI Task Force honored McDivitt Law Firm for its efforts to prevent drunk driving. By partnering with Designated Driver of Colorado Springs, the law firm will now make getting military personnel home safely a weekly goal.
"This is a very exciting time for our community,” says Nonie Rispin, Executive Director of Designated Driver of Colorado Springs. “Thanks to the generosity of the McDivitt family, Designated Driver of Colorado Springs will once again be able to provide the level of service to our military friends that we once did. Keeping everyone in our community safe has always been our mission. Because the Colorado Springs area has such a large military presence we feel it is important to show our appreciation for all they do by providing our service to them—no matter where they are located in our area. Now, thanks to McDivitt Law Firm we will be working together to do just that."
