Utah criminal defense attorney Steven Burton of Intermountain Legal was recently appointed as a Judge Pro Tempore for small claims cases in two courts in Utah. He will be hearing cases in the cities of North Salt Lake and Centerville.
To be a Judge Pro Tempore, one must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of Utah, a practitioner of law in the state of Utah for a minimum of four years, and of good moral character. Judges Pro Tempore can hear civil cases up to $10,000. Serving as a Judge Pro Tempore is considered to be a valuable public service performed by lawyers in addition to their legal profession.

About Steven Burton
Steven Burton is a Utah criminal defense lawyer who received his Juris Doctorate from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark School of Law. Steve has spent over 2,500 hours in court and is an experienced trial attorney. He also currently serves as the Chair of the Legislative Committee for the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
