Joel A. Katz, Chair of the Global Media & Entertainment Practice at the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, once again ranked among the Top 40 of Billboard Magazine’s The Power 100, a list that ranks the most powerful and influential people in the music business. Katz, who was ranked for a second consecutive year, is listed at No. 34 on the 2013 list, the highest ranking among the five attorneys selected. Katz moved four spots up from the 2012 list.
According to the publication, the list highlights the foremost power players in the music industry and ranks top executives from major labels, digital service providers, global promoters and key artists. Katz is noted for his role in a groundbreaking TV contract, where he recently inked a six-year awards deal for the Latin Grammys on Univision. He is also recognized for his role in representing Epic’s Antonio “L.A.” Reid, Columbia’s Rob Stringer, Universal Nashville’s Mike Dungan and Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun.
Katz, who is former Chairman of the American Bar Association's Entertainment & Sports Law Section, is widely recognized as a leader in the field of entertainment law. His clients include some of the world's most well-known entertainers, music producers, record companies, concert promoters and Fortune 500 companies.
