As my guiding rule I learned to ask myself, “What is the worst thing that could happen, can I live with that?” If the answer was yes then I moved forward and never looked back.

As the keynote speaker, Blaker's message of “Big Dreams” resonated deeply with the over 200 female entrepreneurs who filled the auditorium.
Entrepreneur-YOU is a one day conference that provides highly supportive resources for women interested in growing or starting a business. The annual event is a collaborative initiative between Huntington Bank, Inforum, Michigan Women’s Foundation and Walsh College and is designed to help women become successful business owners.
This year the conference offered four different tracks with work sessions and panels geared to assist participants at every stage of entrepreneurship. Additional speakers and workshop leaders included executives from the Athena Group, Bizdom, Merrill Lynch, MetLife and many more.
In her keynote address, Blaker spoke candidly of the many personal challenges that she faced as a working divorced mother raising four sons. She spoke of her unexpected journey as the firm grew to rank among the top 25 women-run businesses in the United States.
“At every turn I was asked to make difficult decisions,” stated Blaker, “As my guiding rule I learned to ask myself, “What is the worst thing that could happen, can I live with that?” If the answer was yes then I moved forward and never looked back. Today we now have offices in over 25 countries and we are still moving forward.”
“Lori Blaker is truly an inspiration and role model for all women desiring to be in business for themselves. She demonstrates that all is achievable,” said Walsh College President and CEO Stephanie Bergeron. “Lori set a great tone for this remarkable day of education and resources will help entrepreneurs define, fund and grow their business—with advice from successful women.”
The program draws on the expertise available through Walsh College education programs and its Blackstone LaunchPad initiative; funding through Belle Capital, Michigan Women’s Foundation angel fund; a Huntington Bank competition; and Inforum’s inGAGE™ entrepreneurial initiative.
