“I rely on the Internet not only to stay connected to my friends, but to complete assignments for my classes, so it’s really great that EHS wants to make sure that we have a solid wireless connection.” - EHS Resident Jeff Schimmer
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) February 16, 2013
Educational Housing Services, Inc. (EHS) — the leading provider of private, off-campus student housing in New York City — is working hard this spring to keep its residents even more connected than ever before.
EHS provides complimentary wireless Internet throughout its three residences, and has made multiple upgrades over the past few months to make sure its networks stay strong. Understanding the needs of the students it serves, EHS considers it essential to keep up with the ever-growing demand that colleges and universities put on their students to use technology as an academic tool. Without a reliable Internet connection, using common academic tools such as mind mapping, web-conferencing and document collaboration would be virtually impossible.
Updates to the EHS network include increasing the available bandwidth of EHS’ Internet — sometimes even doubling it — in EHS’ residences, and increasing monitoring and preventive actions to prevent any bad traffic in the networks, such as viruses and attacks.
Additionally, EHS has installed several more powerful core network devices as well as added more caching and proxy capacity to further increase the overall performance of EHS’ wireless network.
“I can tell a difference in the Internet speed already,” says EHS St. George Clark resident and Hunter College student Jeff Schimmer. “I rely on the Internet not only to stay connected to my friends, but to complete assignments for my classes, so it’s really great that EHS wants to make sure that we have a solid wireless connection.”
EHS will continue to make improvements throughout the spring to ensure a reliable, fast, and safe connection for all EHS residents.
