Tampa, FL (PRWEB) February 18, 2013
Last week, on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, President Obama announced in his State of the Union address the “Fix-It-First” program to put people to work by repairing the nearly 70,000 structurally deficient bridges across the United States. URETEK Holdings applauds the “Fix-It-First” proposal as a resolution to help get Americans to work and to deal with the widespread aging infrastructure throughout the transportation sector in the United States.
URETEK Holdings offers a cost-effective solution for quick and sustainable infrastructure rehabilitation involving lifting roadway structures, filling geological voids, and soil stabilization. The URETEK method is a non-invasive method of soil stabilization utilizing lightweight, expanding structural polymers, which saves time and money that can be better allocated toward more costly and pressing concerns.
“URETEK Holdings is a Florida based company that operates in 8 states throughout the eastern and southern US,” states CEO Kathleen Shanahan. “URETEK Holdings has hired over 30 permanent positions since 2012 and continues to grow while restoring America’s aging infrastructure in a quick, safe and cost-effective manner.”
According to authors of the Hamilton Project Report - “Fix It First, Expand It Second, Reward It Third: A New Strategy for America’s Highways” Matthew E. Kahn, Professor of Economics at the UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, and David M. Levinson, RP Braun/CTS Chair in Transportation Engineering at the University of Minnesota, the “Fix-It-First” program is a concept that reduces the “maintenance deficit” that is occurring due to the prioritization of funding new road and transportation projects in State and Federal budgets with little-to-no long-term maintenance funds allocated to make these projects financially sustainable.
This “maintenance deficit” has the potential to result in significant repair costs with limited funds in state and federal budgets to handle the increased costs of repairs. The URETEK method can provide significant structural improvement in many of these degraded areas, while reducing this “deficit” in a cost-effective approach.
