For parents and educators looking for a fun way to teach children words and sounds, author Patricia Vivian-Lall’s “Ozzie Pozzies’ Rhymes for Aussie Kids” (published by Trafford Publishing) answers the call.

Sure to elicit belly laughs and giddy applause, “Ozzie Pozzies’ Rhymes for Aussie Kids” shows young learners that discovering new rhymes and sounds can be lots of fun.

“Children love experimenting with funny words, sounds, rhymes and rhythms,” writes Vivian-Lall. “This book plays with humorous Australian place-names, animals and birds with charming illustrations showing locations. It’s a fun way to learn!”

The rhymes featured in “Ozzie Pozzies’ Rhymes for Aussie Kids” were born on Vivian-Lall’s frequent trips along the highways of Australia, touring with various theatrical productions. Vivian-Lall amused herself by observing the strange and different names of places and composing rhymes about them for her children.

The delightfully humorous and elegant illustrations, painted on silk by Brenda Nelson, depict the environment of each rhyme and character.

Nursery rhymes relating to the Australian countryside are rare, notes Vivian-Lall, who looks to fill this gap in the market. “The book is devoted solely to some amusing and unusual Australian places, playing with the sort of sounds that young kids love.”
