More than one in ten people do not have sufficient insurance for their technology devices, creating a £32 billion insurance black hole, reports IT ProPortal.
The Halifax Insurance Digital Home Index revealed that only 33% of the population is estimated to have the correct insurance cover for their items when taken outside their home.
The survey of 2500 adults also revealed that 45% of people regularly use technological devices to communicate with friend and family, even when they’re in the same house. The average British woman has £4,058 of technology devices, while a man has £4,294 worth.
A spokesperson for Cost.co.uk said:
“With the British public so reliant on their gadgets, it’s surprising that there aren’t more people who are ensuring they have the correct insurance to protect their items. While these items may be protected while in their home, their insurance policy may not cover them outside the home, so it is well worth looking closely at your policy and comparing gadget insurance and mobile phone insurance deals to ensure all your items are covered.”
