Dr. Robert D. Langer: Jackson Hole Center for Preventive Medicine's Principal Scientist/Medical Director Joins Cenegenics Education and Research Foundation's Board of Trustees

Throughout my 30-year career, I’ve been involved in research and clinical practice focused on successful aging. I’m excited to provide that academic perspective on the CERF board.

Noted international research leader Dr. Robert D. Langer—founder, principal scientist and medical director of the Jackson Hole Center for Preventive Medicine in Wyoming—accepted a seat on the nonprofit Cenegenics Education and Research Foundation’s (CERF) Board of Trustees, announced Cenegenics, the global leader and recognized leading authority in age management medicine. Langer’s extensive research and academic experience will be a significant benefit to CERF, which focuses on investigative research and physician education in preventive medicine as well as oversees Cenegenics’ certifying body, research committee and medical advisory committee.

Langer has served as the principal investigator for more than 30 national and international clinical trials and observational studies with cumulative funding of more than $26 million over the past 25 years. He is the author of more than 180 publications in peer-reviewed literature and a sought-after speaker who has presented invited lectures in 13 countries on 4 continents. Since 2002, Langer also has been part of the National Institute on Aging’s Longevity Consortium—a collaboration of scientists to test findings across disciplines with the goal to find interventions to improve human longevity.

“Throughout my 30-year career, I’ve been involved in research and clinical practice focused on successful aging. I’m excited to provide that academic perspective on the CERF board. I’m extremely pleased CERF is interested in my objective participation in their work and expansion efforts. I see my primary role as helping to explain the strengths and weaknesses of the existing literature and potentially even the strengths and weaknesses of the projects and research CERF may choose to support—and to vet those efforts so that CERF can facilitate the best science in this immensely important field,” Langer said.

Langer is joined on the CERF board by Dr. Beth Traylor and J.E. Clark Delanois. Traylor is CERF’s president as well as a Cenegenics Partner and a Cenegenics Senior Institute physician; Delanois is CERF’s secretary/treasurer and the Managing Director of Chicago’s West Lake Forest Financial Center.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Langer with his wealth of knowledge and extensive experience join our CERF board. His presence gives us an amazing opportunity to move CERF’s research and academic mission forward—from expanding our investigative research initiatives for publication in high-profile, peer-reviewed journals so age management medicine is brought further into mainstream medicine to advancing our CME opportunities and physician educational programs, even internationally,” Traylor said.
