Consumer brands and manufacturers must thoroughly understand their current value chain so that they are prepared to realign their existing processes in a way to manufacture safer consumer products.

Infocast is pleased to announce the return of its highly-acclaimed Safer Products Summit, scheduled for April 2-4 at the Marines’ Memorial Club & Hotel in San Francisco. The 2nd Safer Products Summit will bring policy makers from the California Department of Toxic Substances Control and CalEPA together with leading consumer brands and green chemistry experts to layout the framework needed to comply with the imminent Safer Consumer Products regulations in California and beyond. The Alternatives Assessments Tutorial will precede the summit and share the tools and techniques needed to meet and exceed compliance.

Consumers have become more concerned regarding the chemical make-up of the everyday products that they purchase. This concern has driven policy makers in states like California, Maine, Massachusetts, Oregon and Washington to design increasingly tougher Safer Consumer Product policies to ensure cosmetics, home care items, toys, and other consumer goods are void of harmful chemicals. Consumer brands and manufacturers need to develop a full understanding of the policy landscape for safer products and precisely what is in their raw materials, components, and ingredients. They must thoroughly understand their current value chain so that they are prepared to realign their existing processes in a way to manufacture safer consumer products.

Brand owners including BASF, Ford Motor Company, Henkel Consumer Goods, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, SC Johnson, Seventh Generation and Volvo Car Corporation will be on hand to share how they are preparing and, in some cases, re-aligning their supply chains to comply with CA’s regulations. Green Chemistry pioneers John Warner and Jay Bolus will be among the keynote speakers and will outline the science driving the regulations.

The 2nd Safer Products Summit is sponsored by Keller and Heckman LLP, ToxServices LLC and Alston + Bird LLP and is supported by leading trade groups such as the California Retailers Association, Consumer Specialty Products Association, Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation, Institute, Global Product Stewardship Council, Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association and Toy Industry Association.
