As the world gets smaller, we require bigger, bolder and unconventional technologies that address and shape our energy future.

Ultra Light Startups, a company that holds the most startup-investor pitch events across multiple U.S. cities, will host a Future Energy Investor Feedback Forum at the 4th annual ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit in National Harbor, Maryland on Monday, February 25 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Future Energy, an Ultra Light Startups brand, is a series of events that connects entrepreneurs, researchers, and private investors in the energy and clean-tech industries to develop and commercialize radical solutions to the world’s energy challenges. As the first Future Energy event held at an ARPA-E Summit, the Investor Feedback Forum will showcase eight early-stage companies pitching potentially game-changing technologies to a distinguished panel of corporate and private energy tech investors.

For the eight highly coveted ARPA-E event pitch slots, the Future Energy Investor Feedback Forum selection committee reviewed and hand picked six companies from more than 200 applicants running high-risk startups that show potential to radically improve energy related technology. The remaining slots were awarded to the two companies who received the highest number of votes on Future Energy’s new crowd-voting site, a platform that will be used for future pitch events in New York, Boston and Silicon Valley. The eight companies / entrepreneurs / technologies chosen for the ARPA-E pitch event include:

1. BDL Water / Troy Von Otnott / Frack water treatment
2. Hevo / Steven Monks / Electric vehicle wireless recharging
3. OtherLab / Tucker Gilman / Natural gas vehicle tanks
4. Thin Sheet Zeolite / Wei Liu / Gas and bio-fuel dehydration
5. Altenera / Morris Kaplan / Oscillating reed wind harvester
6. Gravaton Energy Resources / Mike Brewer / Ambient air thermal generation
7. Transatomic Power / Russ Wilcox / Uranium molten salt reactor
8. Pacific Air Conditioning / Craig McKenzie / Solar compressor pump

Each person on the investor panel will provide all eight presenting companies with actionable insights and valuable feedback on anything ranging from their technology to ways to sharpen their investor pitch. The individuals sitting on the Future Energy Investor Feedback Forum panel at ARPA-E include David Miller, Founder and Executive Managing Director of Clean Energy Venture Group; Richard Smith, Shell International; Yanev Suissa, New Enterprise Associates; and David Wells, Partner at Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers.

“As the world gets smaller, we require bigger, bolder and unconventional technologies that address and shape our energy future,” said Graham Lawlor, founder of Future Energy. ARPA-E and Future Energy share a common goal to foster and move transformational energy technologies to market, and our Investor Feedback Forum furthers this mission by providing exposure to ideas that might uncover and advance the next radical energy technology. It’s a privilege to be involved with such a high-profile event like the ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit.”

All ARPA-E Summit attendees are invited and encouraged to attend the Future Energy Investor Feedback Forum at the Gaylord Convention Center. The event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. in Potomac 5 with introductions, followed by the eight startup pitches and panelist feedback. At 8:15 p.m., the audience will be asked to vote for its favorite startup, and the company receiving the most votes will be acknowledged as winner of the pitch competition. The evening concludes with coffee, dessert and networking from 8:30 – 9:30 p.m. in the Potomac Foyer.
