Len the Plumber is participating in Towson University’s annual business case competition known as The Associate. The Associate is Towson University’s College of Business and Economics' competition adapted from the popular Donald Trump NBC series The Apprentice. The competition provides students with a memorable, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their business acumen, while learning invaluable lessons from successful business leaders.

Throughout the course of the competition, area companies pose real-world business cases to eight graduating seniors, split into two teams. One candidate from the losing team is let go from the competition on a weekly basis until the final boardroom session when The Associate is named. At the final session, this year’s student will be hired to work at PNC Bank in Baltimore, MD.
This is Len the Plumber’s first year participating in the program where they provided a case study to test the students’ knowledge with Online Marketing. Andy Beto, COO, and Lisa Fairley, Director of Marketing, attended the kick-off event Tuesday, February 12, 2013 to present the company and competition’s first case-study. They also listened to each student present their own case of why they should be named the next “Associate.”

After attending the event Andy felt, “The students were very impressive and their energy and enthusiasm was contagious. I am very eager to see what they present. A fresh perspective always provides eye-opening insights that might get lost in the day-to-day operations of a business.”

The two teams of students will present their plan to Len The Plumber on Tuesday, February 19th, 2013. Len the Plumber will decide which of the two plans accomplished the goal while a panel of “Donalds” will evaluate which team member will be fired.

“We are so honored to be a part of such a creative and stimulating project that helps prepare these students for the next phase of their careers. After meeting with the students I can already tell that the competition will be stiff and a decision will be difficult,” said Lisa Fairley of the upcoming presentations.
