To honor the vision and hopes of our nation’s founding fathers, Constituting America will once again invite citizens across America to join in the fourth annual 90-day online forum exploring the U.S. Constitution and how it is woven into the fabric of our lives. The non-profit foundation is again inviting citizens across the nation to take part in a study that will focus on the classical works that influenced the writers of the Constitution as well as those writings that explore the challenges the Constitution faces today. To support the readings, foundation chairman Janine Turner will read aloud essays available as mp3 files on the Constituting America website:

Launching on Presidents’ Day, February 18, the forum entitled, “The Classics That Inspired the Constitution and the Challenges it Faces Today,” is available at The program offers the opportunity to explore in-depth essays by noted constitutional scholars and historians in addition to featuring online works by Aristotle, Cicero, John Locke, and more. This year’s forum is supported by Hillsdale College, Hillsdale President Dr. Larry Arnn, and Dr. David Bobb, Director and Lecturer in Politics for the Allan P. Kirby Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship. The college has allowed Constituting America to use its online Constitution Reader as the basis for this year’s forum.

“To learn about what shaped the path of our forefathers has been a very exciting journey for me,” said Turner, a celebrated actress and talk radio host. “This year’s forum begins a journey through 225 years of America’s stability, virility and strength that our Constitution has provided.” Turner founded Constituting America with Co-Chairman Cathy Gillespie on President’s Day 2010 with the goal of using today’s technology to provide everyday citizens an opportunity to learn about the Constitution.

This year’s Constitutional Forum will begin with a re-introduction to the Declaration of Independence by Dr. Bobb. Following Dr. Bobb’s initial essay, the forum will devote weeks to exploring the writings that influenced the Constitution and those responsible for writing it as well as revealing some of the modernists whose scholarship affects today’s constitutional interpretation. Other scholars supporting this year’s forum are Steven H. Aden, W. B. Allen, James D. Best, Dr. David J. Bobb, The Honorable John Boehner, Justin Butterfield, Horace Cooper, William Duncan, Dr. Justin Dyer, Hans Eicholz, Scot Faulkner, Dr. Kevin Gutzman, Allison Hayward, Hadley Heath, Joerg W. Knipprath, George Landrith, Robert Lowry Clinton, Dr. Eric Mack, Robert J. Pence, Kyle Scott, Nathaniel Stewart, Gennie Westbrook and Tony Williams.
