United Church Homes and Services employees wanted to give appreciation and show their support to LINC Gift and Thrift.

Linked in New Creative (LINC) Gift and Thrift store in downtown Newton experienced a "Cash Mob" first-hand when employees from United Church Homes and Services and other local business supporters in and around the City of Newton, including Mayor Anne Stedman, recently stormed the store to shop.
LINC Gift and Thrift volunteer Nora Coffey and Joy Cline, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at United Church Homes and Services, organized the successful event which brought in a large swarm of shoppers to the not-for-profit resale store located at 213 South College Avenue in Newton.
The general idea of a Cash Mob is to encourage people to go into small, local businesses and spend their money to give the business owner a bit of economic stimulus.
LINC Ministry was formed by several local United Church of Christ congregations to provide outreach projects in the community. Income from the LINC Gift and Thrift store, which is staffed solely by volunteers, is used for LINC outreach ministry. A portion of the store's income is directed to the United Church Homes and Services Foundation which helps the organization support its mission.
"United Church Homes and Services employees wanted to give appreciation and show their support to LINC Gift and Thrift. LINC Ministries provides wonderful outreach for the community, so we wanted to do something wonderful for them. Our goal was to make a positive impact and have fun while doing it," stated Cline.
United Church Homes and Services is a not-for-profit, church-affiliated provider of senior living opportunities and diverse programs of outreach that currently operates 11 programs throughout North Carolina and Virginia: three continuing care retirement communities, six HUD 202 supportive housing communities, one Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) program, and a childcare center.
