Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) February 28, 2013
Sofia University (formerly Institute of Transpersonal Psychology) will co-sponsor “Expressive Arts in the Winds of Change,” the 10th Biennial International Conference hosted by IEATA. The conference, featuring keynote speaker and expressive arts therapist Natalie Rogers, will take place at the DoubleTree Hotel in Berkeley, CA from March 14-17.
At the conference, Rogers will present, “We ARE the Winds of Change,” citing the important cross-cultural events lead by expressive arts facilitators around the globe. She will discuss the use of the expressive arts – movement, visual art, journal writing, sound and psychodrama – as channels to understand one another at the heart level, thus encouraging cooperation, collaboration and peace.
Natalie Rogers is a psychologist, expressive arts therapist, and the daughter of Carl Rogers who is known as one of the founders of the humanistic approach to psychology. She recently released a new book titled, "The Creative Connection for Groups: Person Centered Expressive Arts for Healing and Social Change."
At Sofia University, Rogers will co-teach a certificate program combining experiential learning, theory and practice in the person-centered philosophy of Carl Rogers and the expressive arts. As part of the university’s newly offered Public Programs, this 18-unit certificate program will be open to the public as well as current students.
