The Tamiko clothing brand was specially created for premature babies who stay in NICU‘s (neonatal intensive care) where special clothing is needed.

The clothes have been designed in collaboration with healthcare professionals and parents, and the unique design is patent-pending.

The clothes are highly suitable for NICU, where preemies are connected with tubes and wires to all kinds of equipment, and the clothes have been tested and fitted at a NICU. The garments can be fully opened on front and have tiny holes for tubes and wires, so it is possible to dress the baby or change tubes with minimal disturbance to the preemie. Healthcare professionals have stated that using these clothes in the NICU will actually make their work easier. The clothes come in 2 preemie sizes and newborn size.

The fabric has been specially selected to be as comfortable as possible for the tiny babies. The fabric is 100% cotton, high in quality, with soft seams for preemie‘s extra sensitive skin. All garments are washable at 60° (hot) which is the ideal temperature for sterilizing clothes for NICU use. The fabrics are in light unisex colours. Some garments have the cutest animal images printed with soft print, and represent love & care.

The founder

The founder & designer, Berglind Baldursdottir, was Head of approvals department at LazyTown Entertainment before starting her own business few years ago. Tamiko is her second clothing brand, the first is Baby grappling.

The Tamiko brand was in development for almost 2 years before production. The goal is to offer a wide range of products for premature babies and babies with low birthweight.
Tamiko is a Japanese name and means „The most beautiful child.“
