A UK company has launched a musical light bulb, which emits light and sound from the same bulb, reports technology website Shiny Shiny.
The light bulbs act as speakers as well as delivering light and work with a 5W LED bulb and 10W speaker, and are linked to a MP3 dock that wirelessly steams music.
The bulbs are also said to be long life and energy saving.
Lighting suppliers, Lights 4 Living, are passionate about lighting and are constantly keeping up to date with the latest developments in lighting.
A spokesperson from Lights 4 Living said:
“A musical light bulb is certainly an interesting idea as we use light bulbs all over our house and they are often the centre of many of our rooms, so it would make sense to have music playing from such a central area. It’s quite an inspired idea for home lighting. I suppose the idea could be applied throughout the home and is an easy way to introduced surround sound.
"Developments in lighting technology are certainly advancing and lighting has progressed to become something that's more than just functional. With the introduction of LED lights we're seeing highly efficient bulbs that can last years, as well as programmable lighting. With a wealth of innovative lighting designers, we look forward to seeing what else the lighting industry will offer in the coming years."
