Avid 1960's poster collector Andrew Hawley, from Vintage Rock Posters, announces his search for original Jimi Hendrix 1968 Baton Rouge, Louisiana concert posters. The concert was held on July 30, 1968 at the Independence Hall Lakeshore Auditorium. According to Hawley, "Hendrix had some reservations performing in the South after his experience as a black man playing the Chitlin’s Circuit with some of the top R&B in the early 1960s. Hendrix arrive as an internationally famous rock star and played three cities in Louisiana that summer starting in Baton Rouge, then Shreveport and New Orleans."
Hawley continues, "There are many misunderstandings about this poster. The poster was not printed by Globe Poster Company in Baltimore, Maryland. It was printed locally. Both the venues in Shreveport and Baton Rouge have Lakeshore in their name. The artwork was by Bennie Graef and features a rather crude but very effective rendition of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. The poster measures 22x28 inches and was printed on thick poster board. This poster has been heavily bootlegged. Most reproductions are poorly reproduced with the wrong color scheme and claimed to be have been printed by Globe Posters."
Hawley is willing to pay $3,000 cash for vintage 1968 Jimi Hendrix Baton Rouge Independence Hall concert posters or any other original Jimi Hendrix Experience concert posters from 1967 to 1970. Any condition would be accepted. Please call 310-346-1965 or email Andrew at vintageconcertposterbuyer.com.
