BuildMaster makes major changes with its 3.5 release; unveiling a new modular licensing plan that allows users to buy Upgrades to suit BuildMaster to their needs. Inedo is the company behind BuildMaster, an out of the box tool specifically designed to answer the problems of managing a continuous release strategy.

Upgrades give BuildMaster users the ability to pay for exactly what they need.

Inedo has just released BuildMaster 3.5, which chiefly offers some important new features to their pricing and licensing. BuildMaster is Inedo’s automated deployment software, which sports a web based UI, issue tracking, and several other DevOps minded features.

The most noteworthy change to BuildMaster with 3.5 is the introduction of BuildMaster Express Edition which operates within the new Upgrade system. Prior to 3.5 BuildMaster operated under a fairly standard licensing scheme, with various levels of options that granted users access to prebuilt feature sets and numbers of users. Upgrades change that landscape in several important ways.

BuildMaster Express is a free download, which offers BuildMaster’s base set of features for 5 users, 10 applications, and 5 servers, from there, teams that need added functionality can trial or purchase BuildMaster Upgrades.

“Upgrades give BuildMaster users the ability to pay for exactly what they need,” says Alex Papadimoulis, Managing Partner of Inedo, “Let’s say you have a small team of 6 users, who need make use of a large amount of database connections. With most licensing plans you would have to make a big price jump to the next licensing bracket and would wind up paying for a lot of additional, but unnecessary, functions. We let our users avoid this, with Upgrades; you would simply purchase the specific upgrades you need. In this case the Additional User, and the Unlimited Database Connections Upgrades.”

Inedo will continue to offer BuildMaster Enterprise Edition, Enterprise is scaled for development teams of 10 or more users, and offers a scaled pricing plan based on your teams size and needs.

“Excited as we are about the BuildMaster Express and the Upgrades, we still want to offer an easy and economical way for larger teams to purchase and utilize BuildMaster,” explains Alex, “That’s what the Enterprise Edition is all about.”

Since larger teams often have broader needs BuildMaster Enterprise comes complete with all the Upgrades bundled as part of the package. Enterprise Licenses also have unlimited access to a specialized Enterprise support team.

Inedo was founded in 2003 to provide consulting and professional services within the software community. During this period they came to see a need for web based agile release automation suite. In 2008 they began work on BuildMaster, and today they offer not only BuildMaster, but several other pieces of software that are both widely used and widely trusted.
