Casamundo announces its top five spring skiing destinations for 2013.

Casamundo, the UK’s leading website for holiday homes has released its list of the top five best spring skiing destinations. With the Alpine March sunshine just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to book a late season mountain getaway. Casamundo’s list covers extensive snow sure resorts that provide abundant snow, plenty of après ski and glorious sunshine.

1. Val Thorens – France

Nestled up in the French Savoyard region, Val Thorens is Europe’s highest ski resort with the village at 2500m and is part of enormous ‘Three Valleys’ ski area. Its high altitude makes it an excellent snow sure destination and with over 600km of piste, there is something to satisfy all levels of skier’s and boarders. Making it a perfect family Easter holiday snow sport destination.

2. Chamonix – France

With Europe’s highest peak – Mont Blanc, towering over the dramatic Chamonix Valley, it is arguably the most scenic winter sports destination to be found anywhere. The reputation for extreme skiing draws thrill-seekers from across the globe, yet it remains a destination with skiing for all abilities. Plenty of high snow-sure slopes mean that that skiing in mid-May is not unusual.

3. Zermatt – Switzerland
Zermatt’s excellent snow sure glacier and unrivalled views of the iconic Matterhorn guarantee excellent skiing and abundant alpine charm. It is linked to Cervinia in Italy, enabling a day of international skiing, yet the dazzling array of top restaurants are an equally appealing option allowing one to soak up the strong rays of springtime sunshine.

4. Are – Sweden
While the majority of resorts in the Alps are undergoing a major springtime thaw, Are in Sweden enjoys its best period of skiing. It’s majorly popular with Swedish families and still has soft wintertime snow late in the season. Casamundo suggests Are as a refreshing alternative to those tired of skiing the Alps.

5. Hintertux – Austria

If it’s good enough for the Austrian ski team then Hintertux should satisfy even the most discerning skiers. Yet the main springtime draw is the Snowbombing festival in Mayrhofen, a six-day non-stop party bringing electro music culture to the heart of the Austrian Alps. The Hintertux glacier guarantees excellent soft grippy snow in late season but the small size makes it more suitable as a weekend break destination.

With its list of top springtime ski destinations, Casamundo hopes to offer guidance to those wishing to book an end of season ski break. With over 200,000 holiday homes listed in Europe including an unrivalled number of ski chalets and apartments, Casamundo offers holiday options for all tastes and budgets in preparation for glorious springtime skiing.
